Hospitality

Resorts, hotels, F&B, wellness. Architecture that reads as one with the place, and an operating model that survives first occupancy.

Position

A resort that looks good on opening day and works badly in year three has failed. The architecture is only part of the design problem.

Hospitality is a place-led discipline at Berkley. The architecture begins from the site — its topography, its climate, its history — not from a brand standard. We work with operators from the concept phase to make sure the design supports the operating model, the back-of-house, and the realities of a working hotel year-round.

How we work in this sector

01

Place before brand

Brand standards inform the operation, not the architecture. We start from the landscape and the climate, and bring the operator into the conversation early.

02

Back-of-house as design

A resort's service spine, staff housing, and infrastructure are designed with the same care as the public spaces. Most of the operating cost lives here.

03

Water, energy, ground

Coastal and remote sites are constrained projects in disguise. Our civil and MEP engineering work begins at the master-plan stage.

Representative brief
