Berkley is hiring across the three tiers — strategy and experience, design, and engineering and delivery. We hire deliberately and slowly; please write to us, even when no specific role is listed.

How we work

Small teams, named leads.

Every project has a single director from concept through handover. We do not switch teams between phases, and we do not staff projects with people the client never meets.

Integrated by structure, not by aspiration.

You will sit next to engineers and curators, not on a separate floor or in a separate firm. The coordination is the work, not an overhead on it.

On site, every week.

Designers and engineers supervise their own work during construction. If you do not want to be on site during the build, this is not the practice for you.

Restraint as a default.

Our work is restrained because the buildings we work on are usually more interesting than what we would add to them. If a brief asks for noise, we are not the right firm.

Speculative applications

We read every speculative letter we receive.

If you would like to work with us and no role above fits, write to careers@berkleystudio.com with a short note about the work you have done and the work you would like to do next. A portfolio or writing sample is welcome but not required up front. We respond within four weeks.

Students & placements

We take a small number of architecture, engineering, and cultural-strategy students on placement each year, generally between 3 and 12 months. These are paid positions. Apply by email with your portfolio and a one-page note on what you would like to learn here.
